"Summer Thunderstorm"
It was a hot, summer thunderstorm
on an evening afternoon, About Six PM.
I stood braced against "Simon Peter" (My Tree),
While the rain poured down on my head and
Trickled through the green leaves,
my long black hair was wet, really soaked
and in my white bathrobe which was dripping wet,
I watched as two Firetrucks With loud Sirens and
Flashing Lights, rode into the drive and out came
about a dozen firemen in, their fire-gear fully prepared,
with axes in their hands!
At Least it was muggy hot
and the rain almost a cooling
dripping comfort on my cheeks
and nose and puddles on
the sidewalks rivulets of
rainwater going into the gutter
Flowing like a stream or a creek
Lightning Had Hit The Building, They Said,
Went The Alarms Went Out
I Returned to my apartment
made a pot of tea and changed
into another dry warm robe and nightgown
Shortly thereafter I crawled inro bed
snuggling into soft covers and turned out
the lamp, and closed my eyes
I was asleep before I Knew it
When I woke up it was 10 AM
the next morning
I had slept hard.
Theodore was wrapped around me, his arms and legs
were warming my own...Sunlight was coming
through the window as I Opened my eyes
To A New Day.////
In JEsus' Name,
Amen!////
