"The Hope Enduring In Me"
Hope--That Still Small Peace Within,
The Comforter, the Holy Spirit,
Even Hope Itself,
Growing like a tree
in a crowded parking lot,
ignored forever, yet still I
Pick Up Acorns, Maple Seeds,
and Plant them in my Garden
Because I Have A Secret
Deeply Held Dream and Passion
That I Have Never Confessed But to One:
I Want To Plant A Forest.
I Live In The City, and I love forests.
So even as my acorns i water in planters
day after day after day, my saplings grow
and that is the only way on Earth to
Start a Forest, I am starting a forest on my porch.
I plant the seeds, when they are grown,
I Will plant them In My Grandmother's Garden
And On The Side Of The Road
And On Other People's Property,
Where they will become great trees.
One Acorn Will Start A Forest.
My Acorn Will Someday Be A Forest
Before I Die, I Want To See My Forest Grow
Into a real forest. I love to plant trees.
in this i find hope and a purpose.
In knowing my seeds and acorns are having
just as difficult a time as i am, stuck in the city
feeling hopeless, little seedlings deciding to grow
and shoot up through the potting soil. Trees.
I take courage in the trees. Hope, for me, is a tree.
I try to be like a tree. Do no harm, take the least possible,
Grow slowly over time, Give to the world,
and Outlive all the winters and mankind itself.
So many people are cutting down trees. Me?
That's one reason i plant them. Hope is an oak
sapling growing in the balcony garden of a dreamer.
Hope is that thing in me which shoots up like a seedling
Through Rock and tillege, hope itself,
even the smallest, vaguest hope, inspires me
to live on....
and to plant more trees!
In Jesus' Name,
Amen!////
