"When I Found You"
When I Found You You Were Sleeping On a Sofa
There was no pillow for your head
There was no shower to wash your pretty hair
there was nothing that belonged to you, no home
there was you my little broken one
I was the lucky one
i had never seen anything so sad as you
like a newborn kitten in a dumpster
i was the lucky one When I found you
I was  the lucky one
Giving you little bits of food and clothing
Little toys and candies, holidays and dryer sheets
Treating you to tiramisu at dinner means everything to me
Watching you lick the custard from your silver spoon
wrinkling your nose and squnching your eyes with delight
I was the lucky one
Bathing yourself so carefully now, like a duckling
in a plastic swimming pool dunking under
hungry little boy i want to feed you
washing dishes downtown i'll never lose you
I was the lucky one
Watching you save your chocolate easter bunny
cleaning your dirty dishes
eating your home cooked meals with ketchup
I was the lucky one
When I found You
I was the Lucky One!
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
