you just run into them

you've seen working for ten years
and haven't seen in seven, looks
at you and her eyes say "I Wish
I Had A Mother To Buy My Groceries.
Instead I have to work" A Flash of fear
and she bagging groceries again.
The kind waiter at the american restaraunt
that smiles with genuine compassion
and gives of his heart, and theodore
gave him a sixteen dollar tip.
The lovelorn young man in his thirties
who owns the little-frequented coffee and bar
in our neighborhood, smiles looking down,
he's madly in love with his wife, sh isn't there
but you can tell he misses her and wants to be
back in her arms like a little child, won't look
you in the eyes as he hands you your change
because he needs business and he's just a dreamer!
